DOTR Conducts Feasibility Study To Create Cable Car System From La Union To Baguio

This week the Department of Transportation and Railways (DOTr) and the Government of France has officially started the 450,000 Euro ($504,000) feasibility study (FS) for the first urban cable car project in the country to be piloted in Metro Manila. Although DOTr is pushing for other locations, such as La Union-Baguio and Caticlan-Boracay.

France has one of the best cable car systems in the world as seen on the French Alps. But France also attracts one of the richest types of tourists in the world.

The FS has three stages. The first identifies potential cable car corridors. Stage 2 compares potential corridors and selects the best cable car alignment. Last is the full feasibility study to determine if the project is technically, and economically feasible.”

Although I worry about the fact that many Filipinos would carry so much Pasalubong on the way back to manila that they’d have to charge those too.  😀

Anyway this is a great idea and I hope they would have both the political will and the budget to be able to pull it off and not be left just like any of the other feasibility studies the government has done for the infrastructure improvements of the country.
